In one of today's articles, the newspaper Kommersant, citing its own sources, reports on the buying of the 80% stake in JSC "Satellite System "Gonets" by the State Corporation Roskosmos.
According to the publication, this week a government decree must be issued, obliging to transfer 80% of the shares of the Company, currently owned by JSC "ISS", to the ownership of the State Corporation. The purchase of shares will be made on the basis of an appropriate decision taken on April 12 by the Supervisory Board of the State Corporation. The Roscosmos Board approved the Development Strategy until 2030, as well as plans to form a sole operator of the State Corporation for Communication and Relay Systems on the basis of the JSC "Satellite System "Gonets" . The presence of a single operator in the structure of State Corporation will allow it to become a full participant in the global market for space communications and relaying services.
According to the sources of Kommersant in the Government, nine members of the Supervisory Board of Roskosmos GC out of eleven voted for the transfer of JSC "Satellite System "Gonets" shares to the State Corporation. In particular, the deal was supported by General Director of the State Corporation Rostec Sergei Chemezov, presidential aide Andrei Belousov, head of Roskosmos Igor Komarov, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
The newspaper also reports that the decision of Roskosmos buying out 80% of shares of JSC "Satellite system "Gonets" has been prepared for about a year. The State Corporation conducted an assessment of all risks and received approval from the Federal Antimonopoly Service. The Company's revenue in recent years shows steady growth: in 2012 the figure was RUB 150 mln , and in 2016 it was RUB 700 mln.
