In the first quarter of 2017, the Russian segment of the international space station (ISS) will be equipped with a subscriber equipment MXR "Beam" that will allow astronauts to use the connection to the Earth at speeds up to 150 MB/s.

Now the possibility of communication in the Russian segment of the ISS is limited to: orbital station is in the zone of stable connection with the mission control Center (Korolev) only 2.5 hours a day. The rest of The time for the ISS uses the American satellite system TDRSS. The system of "Luch" allows to radically solve the problem with the communication channel. A channel width of 150 MB/s is sufficient for the organization of videoconferences, Internet and live scientific experiments. At the same time, all services will be disabled.

"Our goal as an operator is to find the maximum application of the system in different segments of usage, — said the President of JSC "SC "Gonets" Dmitry Bakanov Vladimir. In addition to the ISS is the removal of the telemetry booster stage, and rockets outside the zones of visibility of ground stations, the transmission of information from stations of Roshydromet, creating a backup communications system of the Eastern cosmodrome and Baikonur, carrying out of videoconferences, etc. As it turned out, services MXR "Luch" are in great demand".
